Here’s a whimsical tour of my recent visit to historic New Bern, an important North Carolina seaport village nestled on the banks of the Neuse and Trent Rivers, just up-river from the Pamilco Sound. Fully accessible by boat, this charming, friendly, civil-minded town is most famous for its star attraction, Tryon Palace, seat of the British Colonial governement and later, briefly, North Carolina’s capital city. Stroll through the downtown New Bern, its riverfront, and the Palace’s truly lovely gardens with Mrs. Happy Feet, your five-minute tour guide!
